Lindsey Hanson wDr. Lindsey Hanson is a licensed naturopathic doctor (ND) in Calgary with a focus on mental health and digestive disorders. Dr. Hanson graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) in Psychology and Biological Sciences. She completed a four-year post-graduate Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in Vancouver, BC.

Dr. Hanson combines evidence-based medicine with natural treatment principles to create a holistic, all encompassing, approach to health care. She is focused on exploring the underlying causes of disease and uses nutrition, IVs, functional and diagnostic testing, counseling, vitamins and supplements to address patients health concerns. Dr. Hanson is certified in Acupuncture, IV therapy, Intramuscular vitamin injections, Prolotherapy and Neural Therapy. Dr. Hanson spent several years in British Columbia where Aesthetic medicine was a part of her practice, including Botox, Fillers and Therapeutic Botox for migraines, TMJ and Hyperhidrosis. Although Dr. Hanson’s focus has changed since moving to Alberta, she is excited to be a part of a clinic that offers this range of treatments for her patients.

Dr. Hanson has always had an interest in psychology, but it wasn’t until balancing family, medical school, work, hobbies, passions and … life, that she really appreciated how important mental health is. Her interest in psychology turned into a passion for helping others manage their own mental health and busy, full lives. Dr. Hanson focuses on supporting patients with depression, anxiety, and those who feel overworked, overwhelmed and stressed. Considering the brain-gut connection, digestive issues is another area of focus for Dr. Hanson’s practice. Dr. Hanson works with digestive issues like IBS, SIBO, crohn’s, colitis, celiac disease, food sensitivities and general digestive complaints (heartburn, gas, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation).

Dr. Hanson believes in working with patients to determine an individualized treatment approach that fits their health goals and is realistic for their lifestyle. For example, although Dr. Hanson has been practicing yoga since she was a teenager, she knows that it might not be a good fit for everyone’s health needs or lifestyle (although everyone should try it once!).

Dr. Hanson is a member in good standing with the College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta (CNDA) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND).

About Dr. Hanson:

I grew up in a small town in northern Alberta and knew from a young age that I wanted to help people, I just wasn’t sure how. I explored many different paths in my pursuit to help people. I volunteered in nursing homes, obtained a degree in psychology, then found the holistic health practitioner program where I took reflexology. I worked with a naturopathic doctor for a number of years and realized naturopathic medicine combines all the elements of health and healing that that I had been in pursuit of. Naturopathic medicine is the art and science of medicine and healing. My focus is on each patient as an individual, their unique health needs, and the psychological-social-environmental aspects of their health. My goal is to understand the root cause of disease and to support, empower and educate my patients on their path to health.

My fiancé and I moved to Calgary to be closer to family, and to help us raise our beautiful children. We have a wild and spirited 3 year old who dances circle around us, and a charismatic and inquisitive 9 year old who keeps us on our toes.

In my spare time I enjoy a variety of crafts like making candles, painting and crocheting. I also enjoy getting back to nature by going for hikes and travelling. One of my favorite travel memories is trekking up Machu Picchu in Peru. I love to adventure with my family and believe laughter really is the best medicine.
